Botswana
Botswana offers visitors an unspoiled wilderness area teeming with wildlife that roams free through hugely contrasting landscapes – perfect for adventurous couples celebrating a honeymoon or romantic getaway holiday.
Things to do and see
From the vast inland flood plain of the Okavango Delta to the stark, desolate Kalahari Desert and salt-encrusted surface of the immense Makgadikgadi Pans, it’s easy to experience a range of wildlife adventures on foot, by dug-out canoe, atop an elephant, on horseback or by quad-bike (in Botswana).
In the Okavango Delta, paddle across lagoons filled with hovering birdlife and along crystal clear backwater channels past grassy islands teeming with wildebeest, hartebeest, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. See elephants wade across channels, hear antelope rustling through water reeds and look out for semi-submerged hippos and crocodiles.
Watch prides of lion hunting through the golden grassland of the Savuti Marsh, admire flocks of pink flamingos preening on the white surface of the Makgadikgadi Pans and, in the desolate Central Kalahari Game Reserve, meet remnants of the indigenous Kalahari San Bushmen.
