Mahé Island Honeymoon, Seychelles
The most developed of the Seychelles islands is home to the country’s capital, Victoria, more than 70 powdery white-sand beaches and a choice of hiking trails through Morne Seychellois National Park.
Things to do and see
Explore one of Mahé’s major attractions – the Morne Seychellois National Park, which encompasses an impressive 20 per cent of the land area of Mahé. Choose from a variety of walking trails through thick forest and a variety of flora including coconut palms, rosewood and cinnamon trees. Try hiking to the Seychelles highest point at Morne Seychellois (905m).
For a stunning scenic drive take the mountain road through the Morne Seychellois National Park from Victoria to Port Glaud.
For a superb hike try the Glacis La Reserve trail that winds through an impressive palm forest against a backdrop of granite cliffs and boulders, with excellent viewpoints along the way overlooking several different regions of Mahé.
The trail begins just off the Montagne Posee road that links Anse aux Pins on the eastern side of Mahé to Anse Boileau on the western coast.
For swimming and diving head to the beautiful Beau Vallon Bay, which offers a 3km-long golden beach, off-shore reefs, wrecks for diving, easy access to the nearby Marine Park of Bay Ternay and a scenic drive past secluded coves up the coast to Glacis and North Point.
