Dunk Island Honeymoon
The inspiration for E. J. Banfield's book Confessions of a Beachcomber, Dunk Island offers all the ingredients you need for the perfect honeymoon holiday or romantic getaway.
Things to do and see
Indulge yourselves in sailing, kayaking, snorkelling and swimming from white-sand beaches that shelve into the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Sunbathe on the long, picture-perfect crescent of white sand or stroll out to the pretty sand spit on the northwest corner of the island.
Follow bush trails through the park’s 730ha of bushland and tropical rainforest, looking out along the way for the island’s famous electric-blue Ulysses butterflies.
Try the challenging 9.2km-long circuit hike, enjoy panoramic views from the top of Mount Kootaloo (271m) and perhaps visit the alternative lifestyle of Bruce Arthur’s Artists Colony, where you can browse original paintings. Along the way try to spot monitor lizards, skinks, pythons and tree snakes as terns and noddies soar overhead.
