The elegant yet informal Paul Gauguin (operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruise Lines) carries only 320 guests and offers a six-star personalised service and gourmet cuisine prepared under the supervision of one of France's finest chefs. Renowned for comfort and spacious staterooms, the ship features a water sports marina, a choice of three open-seating dining venues and an extensive spa.
Accommodation – The spacious en-suite ocean view staterooms and suites (50 per cent with private balconies) all feature temperature control, a queen size bed (some offer twin bed configuration), a spacious bathroom with full size bathtub and shower, luxury European linens and feather down duvets, European robes and cotton slippers, luxurious bath products, a hair dryer, television, CD player and personal safe. The refrigerator is replenished daily with soft drinks, beer and bottled water.
Guests in selected suites also enjoy 24-hour butler service and an in-suite bar with a selection of fine wines and liquors. Smoking is prohibited in all staterooms, suites and balconies.
Dining – Enjoy a grand culinary tour of the best of contemporary French cuisine in two elegant restaurants and one poolside grill. On the Paul Gauguin, dining is unhurried and relaxed with no assigned seating. Select wines and spirits are served with dinner or you can choose an alternative vintage wine from the wine cellar.
During normal dining hours, you can also choose from the restaurants' menus and enjoy dinner in your stateroom or suite. A special 24-hour room service menu is also available.
Dress code – On the Paul Gauguin the constraints of formal wear, tuxedos and ties are forgotten. During the evening, country club casual elegance, informal (sports coat and tie) or formal (black tie optional) is typical. The evening dress codes begins at 6pm, at which time shorts are no longer appropriate in any of the public rooms or lounges. Bathing suits are not to be worn in restaurants and lounges at any time.
Onboard entertainment – In the evening, watch Polynesian performances with dancing and cabaret singers, enjoy a flutter in the casino or sing along at the piano bar in the observation lounge atop the ship. At night, sway to a chanteuse on the dance floor of the night club.
Spa – Indulge in an extensive list of exclusive beautifying services as well as the latest regimens of health and revitalisation therapies that include Pro-Lift skin care therapies, the Renvateur exfoliating process, massage, thalassotherapy, reflexology, aromatherapy, body wraps, facials and beauty treatments.

Best time to cruise? Although you can cruise year round, the best time to cruise the Society Islands is during the dry season from May to October. The region enjoys a warm to hot climate year round with an average annual temperature of 29°C. The wet season from November to April is hot, wet and humid. |
