Best time to visit Sardinia?
Any time, but probably the best time for a honeymoon to Sardinia is between April and November. Sardinia enjoys around 300 days of sunshine a year, with a marine climate that is hot and dry during the summer months of July to September, averaging 29°C, and mild in the winter months.
Sea temperature from June to September averages 24°C. For more climate info: Sardinia Weather Guide
August is the holiday high season and some of the more popular beaches can get crowded at this time.
Location – Sardinia is the largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily. It sits 187km to the west of the Italian mainland and just 16km south of the French island of Corsica.
Getting there – By ferry, the east coast port of Olbia, which offers easy access to the chic resorts of Costa Esmeralda and Porto Rotondo, is just seven hours from Civitavecchia on the Italian mainland, around 80km north of Rome. Ferries also run to and from the capital, Cagliari.
By plane, Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero are serviced by daily flights from Rome and elsewhere in Europe. How to get to Sardinia . . .
