Introducing US Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands offer a unique blend of Danish heritage, American glitz and friendly, relaxed Caribbean attitude – just perfect for a honeymoon holiday or romantic getaway.

The US Virgin Islands consist of 60 mainly uninhabited islands and cays – the largest and busiest are St Thomas, St Croix and St John.

The nearby British Virgin Islands are just a short plane ride away.

St John

Famous for its unspoiled natural beauty, St John offers some of the best snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, underwater photography, sailing and hiking in the Caribbean.

Blessed with lush tree-covered hills and mountains fringed by pristine white-sand beaches, St John offers a welcome escape from the crowds of historic St Croix and bustling St Thomas.

St John is the smallest and most pristine of the three main US Virgin Islands.

St Thomas

There is more to idyllic St Thomas holidays than sun, sea and the stunning Magens Bay Beach – considered by many to be one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

Blessed with great conditions for sailing, scuba diving and game fishing, St Thomas also offers fine dining restaurants, a choice of luxurious 5-star resorts and arguably the best discounted duty-free shopping in the Caribbean.

Home to a natural deepwater harbour, St Thomas is one of the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean and is certainly the busiest cruise ship harbour in the West Indies.

Diving St Croix, Us VIrgin Islands

St Croix

More laid-back and relaxed than bustling St Thomas, St Croix is the largest of the islands and offers a great range of outdoor pursuits as well as historic sights, good restaurants and shopping in the charming ports of Christiansted and Frederiksted.

St Croix offers excellent swimming and snorkelling from a choice of white-sand beaches, as well as scuba diving and fishing.

The western shore is perfect for biking, the tropical rainforest in Christiansted is best seen while horseback riding and the Old Custom House, the wharf area and the historic Fort Christiansværn, which dates from 1774 is best enjoyed on a walking tour.

Where to stay

St Thomas is the most American of the three main islands and offers a huge selection of honeymoon accommodation options including the beachfront palazzo-style Ritz-Carlton, St Thomas, and the Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort, a large, all-inclusive and luxurious American-style mega-resort.

St Croix offers a choice of resorts providing free water sports as well as nightly entertainment. Try the luxurious Buccaneer, a family owned resort that faces three of St Croix’s best beaches.

Come on a day trip or stay longer at one of St John’s peaceful and honeymoon friendly resorts. Try the luxurious Westin Resort St John in Great Cruz Bay, with its giant pool, broad beach and multiple dining choices.

Or relax in the genteel and elegant Caneel Bay Resort, the Caribbean's first eco-resort, which has no phones or televisions. The resort sits on a prime 69ha portion of the national park, surrounded by lush vegetation and offering a playground of seven gorgeous white-sand beaches.
