Where to Honeymoon in Fiji
With its friendly ‘bula’ charm, sugar-white beaches, warm tropical breezes and intimate beach resorts specialising in honeymoon packages, the islands of Fiji are a long-time favourite with honeymoon couples.
Fiji offers a choice of more than 300 sun-kissed tropical islands scattered across several island groups, with an exceptional range of beach resorts and outdoor activities for adventurous honeymoon couples.
What to do and see in Fiji
Relax on the beach and do nothing at all or enjoy a range of activities, such as white-water rafting through tropical rainforest in the lush highlands of Viti Levu; snorkelling offshore reefs in the Mamanuca Islands; exploring on horseback the hilly grassland peaks of the Yasawa Islands; or scuba diving Kadavu Island’s world-famous Great Astrolabe Reef.
Hike scenic trails looking out for native birdlife in the unspoiled rainforest of Bouma National Heritage Park on Fiji's ‘garden isle’ of Taveuni or surf waves at Frigate Passage on Beqa Island.
Blessed with year-round sunshine, calm seas, gentle breezes and just a short boat ride from Nadi, the Mamanuca Islands are perfect for a relaxing or active honeymoon.
With a mix of tiny flat atolls and mostly small, hilly islands covered by grassy ridges and indented with gorgeous powder-white beaches that edge turquoise lagoons, the 23 islands of the Mamanuca Group are famous for capturing the essence of Fiji and the hearts of couples wanting an idyllic beach honeymoon.
The Yasawa Islands are a chain of volcanic sun-kissed islands famous for crystal clear lagoons and gorgeous beaches.
Discover more than 20 sun-kissed islands, home to a choice of luxury beach resorts and gorgeous sugar-white beaches lapped by tranquil reef-fringed lagoons – perfect for honeymoon couples who want to sunbathe, swim, snorkel or scuba dive.
Lying just north of the Mamanuca Islands, the Yasawa Islands stretch for 80km along the north west coast of Viti Levu.
Taveuni and Northern Islands
Often referred to as the ‘Garden Island’ of Fiji, Taveuni is famous for its lush rainforest and idyllic sugar-white beaches that front a choice of beach resorts. Nearby lie the smaller islands of Matangi and Qamea.
Renowned for eco-tourism, the islands of Vanua Levu, Taveuni and several smaller islets lie north of Viti Levu, and are ideal for honeymoon couples who enjoy scenic walks and bird watching. Often referred to as the ‘Garden Island’ of Fiji, Taveuni is famous for its lush rainforest and idyllic sugar-white beaches.
Although the coastline of Viti Levu is scattered with many fine beaches, Fiji’s main island is better known for alternative beachside activities centred along the southern coast around Pacific Harbour, a 45-minute drive from the capital, Suva.
From the ‘Adventure Capital of Fiji', honeymoon couples can easily explore the mountains and lush tropical wilderness of Fiji’s interior: hike the rolling grasslands of the Nausori Highlands, raft or kayak the tumbling Navua and Luva rivers and learn about traditional Fijian culture at the Fijian Arts Village.
Kadavu and Southern Islands
The Southern Islands – located to the south of Viti Levu – offer a range of activities for the adventurous honeymoon couple: Kadavu Island is home to scenic hiking trails and the world famous diving spot of Great Astrolabe Reef; Beqa Island is renowned for Fijian firewalkers as well as scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing at Frigate Passage; while Vatulele Island is famous for some of Fiji’s best beaches, limestone caves and ancient rock paintings.
