About Udaipur
Udaipur is one of the most romantic cities in Rajasthan. Founded in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh, the city is a rich and beguiling tapestry of narrow lanes, white-washed buildings, lakeside marble palaces and gardens, forts, temples and havelis (traditional decorated homes).
Don’t miss the Jagdish Temple, a carved Indo-Aryan temple built in 1651; the City Palace Museum, which houses a large collection of artifacts; and the Crystal Gallery, home to the rare crystal Maharaja Sajjan Singh, part of a collection of items ordered from England by the Maharaja that arrived after his death and remained unpacked for 110 years.
