Introducing Agadir Beach

With its warm sunny climate and long golden-sand beach lined with luxury hotels, Agadir is the perfect base to explore southern Morocco or to enjoy a respite from the intoxicating fusion of ancient sights, sounds and aromas that make Marrakech, Fez and Tangiers so beguiling.

Pick your own spot to sunbathe and swim on the 6km-long sweep of fine golden sand that curves around the magnificent Agadir Bay, enjoying creature comforts at a choice of upscale beachfront hotels. Enjoy panoramic views overlooking the bay from the hilltop remains of the ancient Kasbah, which sits above the memorial park of Talborjt, dedicated to the victims of the 1960 earthquake.

Browse for Moroccan handicrafts, rugs, Berber-style jewellery, djellabas (woollen tunics) and babouches (leather slippers) in the town’s colourful souk. After dark, unwind in a classy piano bar or dance into the early hours at one of the open-air beachfront nightspots on boulevard 20 Août.

Agadir Beach

Unwind on the fine golden sand of this broad beach that shelves into the sheltered waters of Agadir Bay. The beach is overlooked at the northern end by a shady palm-lined boulevard lined with cafés, bars and restaurants. Facilities include several roped-off private sections offering umbrellas and sun loungers for hire and waiter service for cold drinks.

To the south the beach is lined with a choice of upscale hotels offering a range of creature comforts. Regular police patrols provide a safe and hassle-free environment for you to sunbathe, swim and enjoy a range of beachside activities. Vendors offer jet skiing, windsurfing and boogie boarding as well as quad bikes, dune buggies and horse and camel rides.

Note: When swimming in the sea, watch out for the occasional strong undertow; if in doubt, stick to the hotel or beach club’s swimming pool – a safer option for children.

Agadir is the perfect base for exploring the picture-perfect coastal and mountain towns of southern Morocco.

Agadir offers a choice of nearby attractions for adventurous couples. Take a day trip to surf the waves at Taghazout, go windsurfing at Essaouira, spot oystercatchers and flamingos in the lagoon of Souss-Massa National Park, be captivated by the picturesque waterfalls at Immouzer des Ida Outanane or explore narrow alleyways in picture-perfect walled Berber villages such as Tiznit, Taroudannt and Tafraoute.
