Langkawi Weather in September

September is not an ideal time to visit Langkawi as it’s the hot, wet season and the island receives the most rainfall during September and October.

Despite being the rainy season you can expect hot sunny days, with around six hours of sunshine daily interspersed by brief and cooling tropical downpours that generally occur during the late afternoon and evening.

Daytime temperatures reach an average high of 30°C (86°F) and a low of 24°C (75°F) in the evenings.

Weather conditions in September are still good for sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.

It’s also a good time for an island hopping tour and exploring the Pulau Payar Marine Park by boat as well as hiking through lush rainforest to scenic waterfalls en route to Gunung Raya Mountain. Or head to the main town, Kuah, for some duty-free shopping.

September is considered the low season in Langkawi, with a drop in hotel rates as well as less-crowded beaches and entertainment venues.
