Best time to visit Brisbane

Brisbane enjoys a subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and dry, moderately warm winters, with plenty of year-round sunshine.

Late winter and early spring are thought to be the best time to visit Brisbane as the climate is sunny and warm with little rain.

Typically, January is the hottest month in Brisbane with an average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with the most daily hours of sunshine – 11. July is the coldest at 15°C (59°F) and February the wettest month with an average of 170mm of rain.

Summer (December to February) averages a high of 30°C (86°F) and an average low of 21°C (70°F).

However, summer temperatures often soar beyond 35°C (95°F). Brief, torrential rainfalls and thunderstorms are common in summer.

Sea temperatures peak around 26°C (78°F) during summer.

Autumn (March to May) averages a high of 29°C (84°F) in March dropping in May to an average high of 24°C (76°F) and a low of 13°C (56°F). Rainfalls decline as winter approaches.

Winter (June to August) has an average high of 22°C (71°F) and a low of 10°C (50°F).

Spring (September to November) receives an average high of 25°C (77°F) in September rising to 28°C (82°F) in November with an average low of 16°C (60°F).
