Cairns Weather in September

September is an excellent time to visit Cairns, as it falls during the winter dry season.

You can expect pleasantly warm weather and sea breezes with around eight hours of sunshine daily with occasional rain showers that mainly fall at night.

Daytime temperatures see an average high of 28°C (82°F) with a low of 19°C (66°F) at night. September weather conditions are great for rainforest tours, white-water rafting and diving the Great Barrier Reef.

This is the best time for game fishing and it’s also a good time to watch minke and giant humpback whales during their annual migration.

September sees hotel rates drop slightly as the popular winter high season draws to a close.
