How to get to Bimini

Bimini is located in the Out Islands just 81km from Florida, and is easily accessible by sea and air, with daily direct flights from Fort Lauderdale and Nassau.

Getting to Bimini

Located in the Out Islands, Bimini comprises the larger islands of North and South Bimini, which are linked by a regular ferry service, plus a number of smaller islands and atolls. Most of Bimini is privately owned.

Getting to Bimini is easily with direct flights to South Bimini island from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (United States) on Continental Airlines and from Nassau (Bahamas).

From Australia and New Zealand: The most convenient flights are with Qantas, Air New Zealand or V Australia to the USA, with connecting one-to two-stop flights via Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Nassau.

From the UK: British Airways operates direct flights from London Heathrow to Nassau as well as connecting flights from all major UK airports. Delta, US Airways and Continental operate services from London Gatwick and Manchester as well as other cities such as Glasgow, Belfast, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

From the USA: US carriers including American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Jetblue and US Airways operate daily direct flights to Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau and Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport from all the major US cities, with connecting flights to Andros.

Flying in

Bimini has just one airport located on South Bimini. Ferry boats meet arriving flights for transfer to North Bimini, where most of the resorts are located. Hotels can provide pre-arranged transport.

Lynden Pindling International Airport (formerly Nassau International Airport) is located 16km west of Nassau.

Entry requirements

All visitors must hold return/onward tickets, plus proof of sufficient funds, and with the exception of nationals of Canada and the US, all visitors must hold passports which are valid at least six months after entry.

Australian, New Zealand and UK nationals do not require a visa for a stay of up to three months.

United States and Canadian passport holders do not require a visa for travel to the Bahamas for visits not exceeding eight months; however, they must have a valid passport or a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document, or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.

Getting around

On foot mainly, however taxis are available but expensive. Bicycles and gold carts are easily rented from most resorts and are a fun way to get around.
