How to get to Grenada

Grenada is located in the eastern Caribbean at the southern end of the Grenadines island chain.

Grenada consists of the island of Grenada itself plus six smaller islands which lie to the north of the main island.

The islands lie northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The most convenient route to Grenada is to fly into Maurice Bishop Airport (GND), formerly known as Point Salines Airport, located about 11km (6.8mi) south of the capital, St. George's.

A daily water taxi links St George’s on Grenada to the small islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, located around 38km (23mi) to the north.

Flying in

Maurice Bishop Airport (GND), formerly known as Point Salines Airport, is located about 11km (6.8mi) south of St. George's.

The airport lies on Point Salines, the most southwestern point of the island.


Public transport

Taxi: Taxis with fixed-rate fares are available outside the terminal building. Numerous taxi services serve the airport, including the Progressive Airport Taxi Union (tel: +1 473 444 4296).

Journey time to St George's town centre is roughly 20 minutes; the fare is around EC$35.

Shuttle: Hotels can arrange transport by prior arrangement.

Bus: A bus service operates from Maurice Bishop International Airport to St George's, but the service is irregular and most travellers prefer to use a taxi.


Car rental

Car hire companies at the airport include David's Sun Cars and Y&R Car Rentals, both of which have desks near the exit of the arrivals terminal. It is also possible to rent vehicles from major hotels in the area.


Terminal facilities

Money: An ATM is located within the main terminal.

Food: There is a small selection of eateries in the airport, including a restaurant, café and snack bar.

Shopping: A few shops are located in the terminal, both before and after the security screening point, and include jewellery and souvenir retailers as well as bookshops. Duty-free is available in the departure lounge.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi access is available in the terminal building. There is a public telephone on the ground floor, and there are charging points for mobile phones, laptops and other devices. A postbox is positioned in the public area – stamps can be purchased from the bookshops in this area.

Other: Other facilities at the airport include a first-class lounge, situated in the departures area. There are also a number of travel agencies and tour operators in the terminal, who can provide booking services and information on local attractions.


Disabled facilities

Numerous facilities provide access for physically disabled passengers, including accessible toilets and ramps. Wheelchairs are available on request.

Disabled parking spaces are clearly marked near the terminal building. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.


Entry requirements

Visitors must have a passport valid for at least six months after entry. All visitors must hold return/onward tickets and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to three months.


Getting around
