Introducing Port Antonio

Port Antonio is the capital of the parish of Portland on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, and is located around about 100km from Kingston. The town offers several golden-sand beaches, including…

Frenchmen's Cove

Unwind on the pristine white sands of this idyllic 60m-long beach that lies at the end of a narrow inlet surrounded by lush green vegetation.

Once the hangout of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, among other celebrities, Frenchmen's Cove offers a stunningly beautiful spot on the north coast, just 8km from Port Antonio.

Come for a day or stay longer at the Frenchman's Cove Resort, set on a scenic windswept headland.

Sunbathe on the small beach or swim in the clean fresh waters that flow into the sea from a freshwater stream flanked by lush native bush.

Facilities include showers, toilets and a beachfront barbecue restaurant serving cold drinks and freshly grilled fish.

Boston Bay Beach

Sunbathe on the golden sands of this small crescent-shaped beach framed by lush tree-covered headlands and shelving into clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming (and surfing, when the conditions are right).

This beach has the biggest waves in Jamaica; you can rent surfboards and have surf lessons.

Facilities include changing rooms, toilets, showers and picnic tables, as well as food and cold-drink kiosks.

Boston Bay Beach lies on the north coast amid some of the most rugged and beautiful scenery in Jamaica, 18km east of Port Antonio and 97km northeast of Kingston.

The Blue Lagoon

Although not technically a beach, the so-called Blue Lagoon is well worth a visit for its dramatic and sheltered cerulean blue lagoon, which is perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

The 56m-deep lagoon teems with marine life, including schools of colourful tropical fish.

Facilities include a changing room, restrooms, showers and a rental shop for paddleboats and snorkelling equipment. A restaurant offers fresh seafood and cold drinks.
