A bus service connects Alicante with Madrid and several Costa Blanca towns. In addition, a tram runs northwards every half hour as far as El Campello and connects with a narrow-gauge train, the trenet (little train), which then follows a scenic coastal route to Denia via Playa de San Juan, Benidorm and Calpe.

Alicante Airport (also known as L'Altet Airport) is located 11km south of the city centre. A frequent bus service connects the airport with the city centre. Taxis are also available.
Madrid-Barajas Airport is located 9km from the city's financial district and 13km northeast of the Puerta del Sol, Madrid's historic centre. The airport has a rail link to the city centre.
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.
