Benidorm is located on the Costa Blanca, on the east coast of Spain, around 43km northeast of Alicante and 135km south of Valencia.

Getting to Benidorm

By air, Benidorm is 55km northeast of Alicante Airport, which offers daily flights to and from Madrid, Barcelona and major European cities. There are hourly bus departures from Valencia, as well as buses and trains from Alicante.

By train, Alicante is less than three hours from Madrid, with five trains daily; four hours 30 minutes from Barcelona, with eight trains daily; and one hour 40 minutes from Valencia, with 10 trains daily.

A bus service connects Alicante with Madrid and several Costa Blanca towns. In addition, a tram runs northwards every half hour as far as El Campello and connects with a narrow-gauge train, the trenet (little train), which then follows a scenic coastal route to Denia via Playa de San Juan, Benidorm and Calpe.

From Australia: The most convenient and quickest flights to Alicante are on Thai Airways via Bangkok and Madrid or Emirates via Dubai and Madrid.

From New Zealand: The most convenient flights to Alicante are on Air New Zealand to Los Angeles connecting with Iberia to Madrid.

From the UK: Ryan Air, EasyJet, Thomson and Monarch Airlines offer direct flights daily from London Gatwick to Alicante. British Airways and Iberia offer daily direct flights from Heathrow to Madrid.

From the USA: A huge choice of airlines fly from New York Kennedy and Newark to Madrid and Barcelona with connecting flights to Alicante. The most convenient flights from Los Angeles are via Madrid on Iberia.

Flying in

Alicante Airport (also known as L'Altet Airport) is located 11km south of the city centre. A frequent bus service connects the airport with the city centre. Taxis are also available.

Madrid-Barajas Airport is located 9km from the city's financial district and 13km northeast of the Puerta del Sol, Madrid's historic centre. The airport has a rail link to the city centre.

Entry requirements

A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.

Getting around

Apart from walking, taxis, buses, trains and hire cars are all available to further explore the city and beyond.
