Stroll ornate corridors through spectacular rooms and don’t miss the restored 72m-long Galerie des Glaces (Hall of Mirrors) – the site of the marriage of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres
Built on a reputedly holy site used by Druids and the ancient Romans, Chartres is a showcase of High Gothic art and architecture and was the first cathedral to feature flying buttresses.
