How to get to Rimini

Rimini is located in northeast Italy on the Adriatic coast in the Emilia-Romagna region, around 110km (68mi) from Bologna, the region's capital city, and 300km (186mi) south of Venice.

Rimini is one of the most famous seaside resorts in Europe, thanks to a 15km-long (9mi) sandy beach, and the thousands of bars, restaurants, discos and accomodation options that line the seashore.

The most convenient route to Rimini is by air to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ), followed by an airport shuttle bus taking 1 hour 25 minutes, every hour to Rimini.

Alternatively, a frequent shuttle bus runs from the airport to Bologna Centrale railway station. From there, by train to Rimini is 53 minutes, every 30 minutes.

Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI), located 7km (4.3mi) southeast of Rimini town centre, is closer but generally receives only seasonal charter flights.

Shuttle: A frequent shuttle bus service from Aerobus (tel: +39 051 290 290; www.tper.it), operates the Linea BLQ service, which departs every 11 minutes from outside the arrivals area of the terminal and runs to Bologna Centrale railway station and the city centre. The fare is €6. Tickets can be purchased on the website or from vending machines at the airport.

Bus: There are also bus services to/from Modena Airport and Modena city centre, taking about 60 minutes and to/from Siena, taking about 2 hours 30 minutes.

Rail: The airport has daily direct train connections, including to Rimini, Ferrara, Florence, Modena, Cervia and Ravenna.


Car rental

Car hire companies include Avis, Alamo, Budget, Europcar, and Hertz along with several local operators. Offices are situated on the ground floor of the terminal near baggage claim.


Terminal facilities

Money: There is a full-service bank on the first floor of the airport, while ATMs and currency exchange services are available throughout the main terminal.

Food: A small selection of snack bars and cafés are located in the terminal, and a wine bar on the first floor.

Shopping: Various shops including duty-free outlets, newsagents, shoe and clothes boutiques, a leather goods and accessories shop are located in the terminal.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the airport for up to six hours.

Other: Baby changing facilities are available in all ladies' toilets.

Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI), formerly known as Rimini Miramare Airport, is located at Miramare, around 7km (4.3mi) southeast of Rimini town centre.

A frequent bus (and train) service operates from the airport to central Rimini, taking just 11 minutes, every 30 minutes. Taxis and hire cars are also available.


Entry requirements

A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.


Getting around Rimini

Best on foot – most hotels are within walking distance of the beach and city centre. For longer trips along the coast or inland, buses offer an inexpensive alternative to car hire and taxis, which are also easily available.
