How to get to Santorini
Time-pressed holidaymakers can fly direct into Santorini, with daily flights from Athens lasting around 45 minutes. Alternatively, high-speed catamarans make the journey from Pireaus to Santorini in four and a half hours.
Santorini is the southernmost of the Cyclades group of islands that lie in the Aegean Sea, south-east of mainland Greece. The Cylades comprise Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini, plus a number of smaller islands.

Santorini Thira Island Airport (or Monolithos Airport) is located 4km southeast of Fira town. Shuttle buses and taxis operate from the airport terminal.
Athens Airport – Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport – is located 33km southeast of the city centre, around 30 minutes to an hour by taxi. The airport offers 24/7 train and bus services to Athens and beyond.
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.
Apart from walking, you can hop on a bus; a choice of routes range across the island. Mopeds and cars are available for rent. Taxis have fixed prices between the larger towns.
