The Tremiti Islands

Consider a honeymoon holiday or romantic getaway on the Tremiti Islands, located in the north of Apulia.

Experience the natural beauty of this unspoiled region, which is renowned for clear waters, outstanding scuba diving and the pristine Gargano National Park.

What to do and see in the Tremiti Islands

The five tiny islands that make up the Tremiti archipelago are San Domino, San Nicola, Capraia, Cretaccio and Pianosa.

Only San Domino and San Nicola are inhabited, although it is possible to visit the other three islands by boat.

On San Domino, choose from numerous picture-perfect coves such as Cala dello Spido on the west coast, and sunbathe on the golden sand beach of Cala delle Arene.

Or follow scenic tracks to find your own secluded cove, wandering past fragrant pine trees and hillsides covered in maquis sprinkled with rosemary and foxgloves.

The island can easily be crossed on foot in around two hours.

San Domino is best known for its excellent scuba diving, with several impressive underwater caves to explore as well as coral reefs and a Roman-era shipwreck lying in 25m of water off Cala Zio Cesare. A range of small hotels and guesthouses are available on San Domino.

The rugged island of San Nicola offers excellent swimming and diving but no beaches. Inland, a monastic medieval hilltop fortress and the tiny 11th century church of Santa Maria a Mare offer interesting side trips.
