Pattaya is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, 147km (91mi) southeast of Bangkok – around 1 hour, 30 minutes drive or less from Bangkok.
The most convenient route to Pattaya is by air to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), followed by a shuttle bus to Pattaya and taxi to your resort; or taxi directly from the airport to your hotel.
By bus, Roong Rueang Coach offer a frequent 2-hour daily service from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Central and South Pattaya intersection drop-off locations, as well as North Pattaya bus station for the 9pm and 10pm buses.
Tickets cost about THB130 (US$4) and can be bought online or at the 'Suvarnabhumi Airport – Pattaya' counter on Level 1 near Gate No 8 in the airport arrivals hall.

Or you can fly to U-Tapao International Airport, 45-minutes east of the resort town. Resorts can provide transport for quests if prearranged.
Note: the limo fare from U-Tapao Airport is around the same as a taxi fare from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, roughly THB1500 (AUD45, NZ$57, US$50, £30) or less depending on your negotiation skills.
Alternatively, numerous air-conditioned (and inexpensive) buses depart Bangkok’s Eastern Bus Terminal on Sukhumvit Road daily for Pattaya; allow 3 hours for travel time.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport (also known unofficially as Bangkok Airport) is located at Samat Prakan, around 30km (18mi) east of Bangkok and 60km (42mi) east of Pattaya.
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 30 days.
On foot once you are downtown. Pattaya Beach Road runs through the heart of the resort town, with Jomtien Beach a 15-minute ride away.
Taxis, tuk-tuks, motorcycle taxis and songtaews (red pickup trucks) are convenient ways to get around. Hire cars and motorcycles are available for rent. Taxis can also be rented by the day. Thais drive on the left-hand side of the road.
