However, anytime from early-May to mid-October is good for a range of outdoor activities.

To avoid the summer heat and crowds, and for hiking and exploring the island, visit Mallorca during May, September and October when you can still bask in clear, sunny days with daily temperatures averaging 24°C (75°F).

Holiday seasons

Peak season: July and August – temperatures can soar beyond 30°C (86°F), with many hotels booked out and traffic, restaurants and beaches at their most congested.

Of course, if you like the buzz of lots of people then this is the best time to go, especially for clubbing.

High season: June and September: not quite as bad as July and August for crowds.

Low season: Winter, spring and autumn when prices are competitive with minimal foreign visitors or Spanish tourists. April and May are good months for hiking.

Note: Many hotels and restaurants are closed between November and March.
