Playa de los Cancajos

Choose your own spot to sunbathe and swim on this 400m-long crescent of black-sand dotted with rocky outcrops and framed by black volcanic headlands.

The beach shelves into a sheltered cove with interesting rock formations and perfect conditions for swimming, snorkelling and diving among trumpet fish, rays, barracudas and turtles.

Playa de los Cancajos is located on the central east coast at Los Cancajos and is the most developed resort on La Palma. Here you can enjoy a choice of bars, nightclubs, restaurants and luxury hotels that include the beachfront Hotel Taburiente Playa and Hacienda San Jorge Apartments.

The capital of La Palma, Santa Cruz, lies just 4km to the north.


Playa de los Puerto Naos

Unwind on this 500m-long stretch of palm-fringed black sand that shelves into the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

A promenade lined with numerous restaurants and bars is just a stroll away.

Getting to La Palma

La Palma, also known as San Miguel de La Palma, is the most north-westerly of the Canary Islands, an island archipelago comprising seven large and six smaller islands that sit in the Atlantic Ocean around 1100km (683mi) off the Spanish mainland and just 100km (62mi) from the northwest coast of Africa.

The most convenient route to La Palma is by air to La Palma Airport (SPC), located 8km (5mi) south of the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma.

From many overseas destinations this may require first flying into Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), also known as Gran Canaria - Las Palmas Airport, located 19km (12mi) south of the capital, Las Palmas, followed by a connecting flight to La Palma Island.

By sea, La Palma is a four-hour ferry ride from Tenerife, with connections to and from the neighbouring islands of La Gomera and El Hierro.
