Mallorca Weather – May

May heralds the start of summer and is an excellent time to visit Mallorca before the summer crowds arrive in July and August.

You can expect warm weather and around nine hours of sunshine daily with occasional rain showers.

Daytime temperatures reach an average high of 23°C (73°F) with a low of 10°C (50°F) at night.

Although still too cold for swimming, May is an excellent time for sightseeing, hiking and exploring Mallorca’s many ancient and interesting towns on foot, bicycle and car.

Two festivals not-to-miss in May, include the Festival of Spring, celebrated with parades, music and local cuisine, and the Moros i Cristians festival in Soller, a re-enactment of a battle between Moorish pirates and Christian villagers.

The event is held on the second Sunday of May, with fireworks, fancy costumes and street parties that last into the night.

May is low season in Mallorca with competitive hotel prices.
